Diamond Drilling intersects 5 metres @ 10.84 g/t and 28 metres @ 2.92 g/t
AMI Resources is pleased to announce significant intersections from the current diamond core drilling program within the North Ashanti Gold Project in Ghana, West Africa. Significant, high grade intersections have been obtained beneath existing resource extents and a new wide, hangingwall mineralised zone has been identified:
07BPRD133 165 -193m, 28.0m @ 2.92 g/t
Including 172.8 - 177.9m, 5.1m @ 10.84 g/t
07BPRD132 57 - 67m, 10.0m @ 1.22 g/t
The current program of deeper diamond core drilling is targeting depth extensions to known mineralisation within the Beposo Main Zone resource. Holes are collared on 120 metre spaced sections and expect to intersect mineralisation 150 metres below surface. The first two holes of this program have both intersected mineralisation at targeted depths.
Hole 07BPRD133 targeted down dip extensions to recent RC drilling encountered in 07BPRC122 (16m @ 4.58 g/t). This hole has defined a broad zone of mineralisation at 150 metres below surface (28m @ 2.92 g/t) with a high grade core of (5.1m @ 10.84 g/t).
Hole 07BPRD132 targeted down dip extensions to recent RC drilling encountered in and 07BPRC124 (8m @ 3.10 g/t). A wide Ôhangingwall' zone of mineralisation (10m @ 1.22 g/t) has been defined by this hole, which lies twenty five metres to the west of the main mineralised trend. The hole was abandoned at 163 metres due to difficult ground conditions but has been re-entered and extended to 192.80 metres after the Christmas break. Results for the lower half of this hole are awaited. The modelling of a wide mineralised hangwall zone is likely to add oxide ounces to the current resource base. The strike extent to this zone could be better defined by the remaining diamond core holes of this program.
Both holes from this round of diamond core drilling have produced highly encouraging intersections. A full list of results will be announced upon completion of the program.
The North Ashanti Gold Project straddles fifteen kilometres of the Ashanti Gold Belt and lies directly south of the Konongo Mining Lease, approximately twenty kilometres west of Newmont's Akyem deposit (17m Ozs) and fifty kilometres northeast of AngloGold Ashanti's Obuasi Mine (40m Ozs).
